What are the Basics?
As a Student what do you need to survive - apart from the obvious...?

The Basics is about the bare essentials that you'll need to enable you to concentrate on your studies or parties - whichever comes first...

BASIC ONE:
Bank Account - If you don't have one yet... Get one! You'll need it to cash your Loan/Grant cheques as well as manage your finances - bills to pay, wages to receive, etc...
We strongly recommend THE BANK OF SCOTLAND for all your banking requirements - they definitely offer the best Student deals and top notch Customer Service around. A bank that treats you as a customer and not a dependant... They need you as much as you need them and that's the way it should be. Go and check them out... They are everywhere (City Centre branches: Next door to M&S, opposite the Overgate Centre on Perth Road).

BASIC TWO:
Insurance - You definitely need it... Car, Possession's, etc., etc...
Endsleigh Insurance do a good deal - and hey, They'll contact you... CLICK HERE to receive a phone call from them, so you can ask them all you insurance worries. Don't have your lovely new PC disappear only to realise you don't have insurance - that'll be a damn shame.

BASIC THREE:
Doctors - Everyone needs a doctor at some time - therefore it'll be a great idea to register with a doctor and have a quick check up to make sure you're fully functioning...
The Uni Doc is Cool, but it's best to have your own Dude [that's a non-sexist term by the way- before you dudes start firing mail at me ;-) ].
Tay Court Surgery is a sweet place to go (+ they have a kinky wee website - worth a look)... Hillbank Health Centre (the home of the Uni Doc) is another interesting stop. Either or - Get a Doc - Definitely Needed.
One last thing - make sure you're happy and comfortable with your Doc Dude - nothing worse than feeling uncomfortable about telling them about "that wee itch" or something... know what I mean?

Well, in a nut shell - the BASICS - take the advice and get these simple things sorted out pronto...
