THE
BACKGROUND
The
University of Abertay Dundee is divided up into four main teaching
schools. These are:
-
Dundee Business School
- School
of Computing
- School
of Science and Engineering
- School
of Social and Health Sciences
Each
of these schools run many courses with a few thousand students spread
across these courses. In order for student views to be best attained
students are elected class reps. by their colleagues so that they
can channel a relatively small group of student's opinions to the
University and the Students' Association. It is vitally important
that this system is in place with good class reps. (which you will
be) in order for the University and the Students' Association to
provide a good service for the students of U.A.D.
What
Is The Job Of A Class Rep?
This
can be divided into two main areas:
Class
Reps. = Course Executive + Student Representative Council
Course Executives
Each
course in the University of Abertay Dundee has a course executive.
These give you the chance to voice any problems or opinions at a
level directly affecting your
class-mates or yourself. Every class rep. is an automatic member
of their own course executive. So problems with course-work, overload,
timetabling and exams can Only Be Identified If They Are Brought
To The Attention Of Lecturers And Course Leaders.
For
this area the job of the class rep. is to ensure:-
1.
That your classmates inform you of any problems or suggestions.
This means listening to what they have to say and being approachable.
2.
Communicating the problems or suggestions to the relevant course
staff. They won't know the problems unless you tell them. They won't
take it personally. You are representing your classmates.
