Scottish Students on Screen 14th & 15th March 2002

Children & Young People Thursday 14th March 2002
There have been many exciting developments since we celebrated the film-making work of children and young people at last year¹s event. The new Film Council Lottery Scheme First Light has been established, and the first beneficiaries, including Scottish projects, are being completed. Some of this work will be screened on the day, with an audience award for the favourite film.

Other highlights on the first day include a media workshop with Treva Etienne (star of London¹s Burning and Black Hawk Down), story workshops and pitching sessions with Tartan Smalls the new BBC / Scottish Screen scheme which aims to encourage the development and production in Scotland of short films for a young audience.

Students on Screen Friday 15th March 2002
Films shortlisted by the juries in the five categories (animation, fiction, factual, no boundaries and other) will be shown on the big screen and the webcast, while clips from all the films entered will be shown in the Jute café.

Sessions for the day include: a discussion of successful short films with Johnathan Rawlinson, Director of First Film Foundation; PACT¹s new media sessions with Mark Rock the brains behind Playjam interactive TV, Nextsteps an introduction to short film schemes, media access centres, further training and education, and marketing your film. All of which are supported by industry wide panel sessions where media industry specialists
will be lending their knowledge to those keen to identify where they want to take their career.
