Event: League (2nd match)
Opposition: vs Aberdeen University
Date: Saturday 10/11/01 @ 14:00
Location: Dawson Park (Home / Dundee)
Result: Abertay 5:16 (31pts) V Aberdeen 0:01 (1pt)

With all the Abertay lads suffering desperately from the previous night out in Abertay Union (fund raising) it was excellent to see so many players turn up.
Some came late and some were early. However, Aberdeen appeared late so this gave late comers leverage.

Anyway, the match itself started off with Abertay simply taking control of midfeild and distributing the ball to the forwards. Abertay forwards wasted some chances. That in turn really disheartened supporters and players alike.
Entering into the second half Abertay felt that they were getting into nitty gritty petty fights with Aberdeen (usually unlike Abertay and Aberdeen between friends).
Nonetheless, with the score line only quite marginal at this point, Abertay were riled up to go out and play some football.

Approaching the throw (start of second half) in James Carmody got stuck into playing football and distributed the ball very effectively and quickly into the forwards ("which is what Abertay have been crying out for" Francie Mc Cabe Player). Along came big Dave and kicked several goals into the Aberdeen net with ease. The big opportunist never let the side down once. Good stuff Dave.

Really within the elite match performers there was man of the match Mark Boyce (Wexford) who had a solid game at the back, James Carmody (Limerick) who has a much improved element to his game distributing the ball and big Dave up front who notched up 3 goals and a point as far as Connor Feehan's statistics goes.

Defence:
Rock solid "great leadership" (Eoin O' Flynn/Secretary) Having conceded only 1 point in the entire game abertay's defence deserve the highest recognition.
Midfield:
Totally controlled and good distribution
Forwards:
Wasteful first half. 2nd half Abertay came into their own.
Subs:
Ritchie Mc Redmond and Ciarian Kelly played well.
The others subs could have been given a run out.
Overall:
Good performance, potential is obvious - "progression/success and the team gelling go hand in hand" (Francie Mc Cabe/P.R.O.)
