Save The Empire
By Kirk Torrance 19-10-01
Thursday Afternoon saw another first for the NEW Abertay Union... LIQUID played host to a live local band - Save The Empire. The gig was due to kick off around 6:00PM - however, in classic rock 'n Roll style; delay's saw the gig start at around 10PM. The event took place as a prelude to a, possible, regular Band Night at Abertay Union. The atmosphere - chilled, personal, and energetic... The band - pissed, humorous and fantastic...

Grant, Matt & Graham - "Save The Empire", christened LIQUID at Abertay Union with their new material - they drew in a steady crowd and disappointed many people who started drifting in just as they had finished their set. All in all, Matt Ridgway (Music Community Manager at AbertayUnion.com [in red]), and the band played an a plethora of energetic tunes that has, in turn, made me slightly more interested in this genre of music. The shoe tapping rhythmic undertones could see me dancing to their stuff... something I thought would not be possible from this style of music.

I'm no professional rock critic - but, as an avid music fan - Save The Empire definitely scores highly in my books and I look forward to seeing them play live again on Sunday at On Air East - courtesy of Beatgenerator.
