Title: Jeepers
Creepers
Starring: Gina Philips, Justin Long, and Jonathan Beck
Director: Victor Salvoa
Cert: 15
Running Time: approx 91mins
The box office hit from America acclaimed as, "the best
U.S horror movie of the past ten years", has now arrived
in the U.K. The film was executively produced by Francis Ford
Coppola and directed by Victor Salva. It stars Justin
Long and Gina Philips as siblings driving home from college. They
see someone or "something" throwing body shaped packages
down some sort of tunnel. The brother decides they should go and
investigate and the sister reluctantly agrees.
The film moves quickly and soon, this evil something is after them.
The movie follows a familiar formula that has been used countless
times before so the element of surprise is substantially limited;
some may find the film quite uninteresting. At points the film came
across as being unnecessarily nasty, revelling in some quite distasteful
sequences. There are a few moments that make the audience jump,
mainly due to the musical score. The score was an impressive part
of the film.
Generally "Jeepers Creepers" was passable as a common
horror film. If the film does appeal you can look forward to the
inevitable sequel but, if you are looking for cinema with some substance
and meaning this is certainly not for you.
