BLADE
II
Blade 2 is the sequel to Blade that first appeared on our screens
in 1998. Wesley Snipes who as Blade is half man and half vampire
brought Blade to life from Marvel Comics. After the enormous
success of the first film, which sets the idea for the second in motion
a lot of things have changed! Whistler, (Kris Kristofferson)
is back from the dead but Blade has a new sidekick Scud (Norman Reedus)
the new weapons creator who enjoys smoking the odd phat one! J. As
whistler and scud are at loggerheads over designs there are some unexpected
guests who want to speak with Blade. Nassya (Leonar Varela) and
Asad (Danny John Joules- Cat from Red Dwarf) are members of the
'Blood Pack' led by Reinhardt (Ron Periman). Who all reluctantly
need the help of the Day Walker (Blade) to destroy a new breed of
mutated vampires called the Reapers because of a viral strain that
they carry. The infected trail leads back to one mutated vampire '
Patient Zero' Jared Nomak (Luke Goss-from 80's band Bros). So then
Blade and the Blood Pack must destroy the Reapers and Nomak before
they destroy the human race!! And you can work out the rest!
This film is O.K, there is nothing that amazing about it,
but there are some very bad things about it especially the computer
graphics (CG). For a major Hollywood film with an amazing budget
you really should be getting more for your money. The film
has an alright idea for a story and plot and does look good apart
from some of the CG work but I was left bored and wanting
the film to end which is not normal for an action movie with a strong
cast. Wesley Snipes was good as Blade but the film did not have
the dark edge, which gave the first its viewing appeal. We are supposed
to believe that Blade now enjoys what he does with the slaying of
the vampires and what ever else there is to kill but that part of
the character does not really prevail itself much. Luke Goss as
Nomak was actually very good, and with an ending that maybe wasn't
quite expected Goss had a chance to shine. The end idea of the story
may leave you with a little to think about but if you enjoy going
to see a film and not really think then this is a film for you but,
if you like computer graphics in films be warned as in this film
they may annoy you to the point of not wanting to see it again.
